On 24 July 2026 a US Food and Drug Administration advisory committee voted 8-5 to recommend semax for the list of substances compounding pharmacies may use. Selank was not even on the agenda. That gap says a lot about where selank sits in 2026: a peptide registered as a medicine in Russia, unlicensed in the UK, and sold here only as a research compound.
In this article, we explain the background of selank for a UK audience, look at the legal status of the drug, introduce the only seller on our list and give information about safety. We follow MHRA notices and the published research and back each claim with a source.
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide, a chain of seven amino acids, based on tuftsin. It was developed in Russia, where it is registered as a medicine in the form of nasal drops.
Outside Russia its status is very different. It is not approved by the US FDA, and it is not a licensed medicine in the UK. The published research is mostly Russian and focuses on anxiety and cognition. Our selank peptide page goes through the origin and the research in more detail.
Semax often appears next to it. Semax is also a Russian development, based on a fragment of ACTH, and the two are frequently sold together. The selank vs semax comparison sets out how they differ.
Selank is not a licensed medicinal product in the United Kingdom, as no such license has been issued for any selank product. Hence, no pharmacy can sell it as a medicine, and it is unavailable on the NHS.
While it might be sold as a research compound, the distinction really matters little. According to the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, a product is categorized based on how it is promoted: if promotion has claimed that it takes care of any condition, including cognition, the product must adhere to the medicinal rules. In April 2026 The Guardian reported that the MHRA was looking into the activities of establishments in the UK that made medicinal claims about the peptides which were not under regulation.
The MHRA has also said, in its warnings about illegally supplied weight-loss products, that "research use only" or "not for human consumption" labels do not make a product legal to supply for human use and do not mean it was made to medicine standards. Our selank UK guide covers the legal position and the ordering checks.
Our vendor, Peptide God, does not sell selank on its own. Selank is available from it only inside a Selank + Semax Blend, listed at $59.95 (US dollars). The second product is N-Acetyl Semax Amidate, a modified form of semax, at $49.95. We would rather say that plainly than suggest a standalone selank vial exists in the range.
| Product | Vendor description | Form | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selank + Semax Blend | Heptapeptide blend for cognition and stress research | Solution, lab-tested | $59.95 |
| N-Acetyl Semax Amidate | ACTH-fragment analogue for cognitive research | Solution, lab-tested | $49.95 |
Both are labelled research use only. The blend has a fixed ratio set by the vendor, so you cannot change the balance between the two peptides. More on that on the Selank + Semax Blend page.
Peptide God is an American company that lists costs in US currency. We have no confirmation that it ships products to UK customers, therefore check with the supplier to see if it delivers to the country and then place an order.
Nothing here should be read as a claim of UK stock or UK delivery times. We do not have that information.
Little is known for sure. There is no safety evaluation of selank in the UK, and the research background is mainly contained in Russian works and not supported by large clinical trials assessed by UK authorities.
The larger threat in reality is usually the product itself. The MHRA cautions that items sourced from unregulated sources have nonspecified contents as well as quality of manufacturing and handling. Last year, it confiscated 28.5 million doses of illegally traded medicines worth around £64.4 million. The data mentioned pertains to all medicines rather than peptides only, however, they indicate the extent of the uncontrolled market.
If you are taking any medications, pregnant, or suffering from an ailment, contact your physician or pharmacist. Any suspected adverse incident involving any drug can be reported to the MHRA by means of the Yellow Card programme.
We do not release any details regarding the dosages, schedules, or use of semax or selank. Neither medicine has an approved dose in the UK and anything included in connection with the licensed medication in Russia must not be applied to research-grade products purchased through the internet.
There is a regulatory reason as well. When the FDA sent warning letters to five online peptide vendors on 24 August 2026, it said dosing guidance and reconstitution calculators on a website were evidence that products were meant for human use. Selank and semax were not among the products named, but the principle matches the MHRA's focus on intended use.
